Studio Policies
Keyboard requirements
All students must have (or be willing to purchase) an acoustic or digital piano in good working order that features: all 88 keys, a sustain pedal, and touch sensitive or weighted keys.
Arriving for lessons
Please wait on the front porch until I come out to greet you. There are plenty of comfortable places to have a seat. Please do not knock or ring the doorbell, as I frequently teach lessons back to back and I may be with another student.
Last minute cancel/Running late
If you need to cancel the day of your lesson or if you are running more than 5 minutes late for your lesson, please send me a text to let me know.
Scheduling
The day and time of your lesson is reserved specifically for you. If you are unable to make your lesson during a particular week I may be able to reschedule it to a different day, but I cannot guarantee that there will be an opening.
If at any time you change your regular lesson day/time, please know that your previous day/time may be offered to someone else and no longer available if you decide that your new lesson day/time isn't working out.
If you need to take an extended break from lessons (one month or longer), I will keep your usual lesson time open for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, I ask for a $60 monthly fee ($15 per week) to reserve your specific day/time slot until you can return. If you don't wish to pay the reservation fee, please know that your usual day/time slot may not necessarily be available after an extended break.
Payment
Lessons are paid in advance at the beginning of the month. (E.g., If your lesson day is Monday and there are four Mondays in a month, you would pay for four lessons in advance at the beginning of the month.)
I accept Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, and checks.
Cancelled lessons
If you need to cancel your lesson, please let me know (preferably via text or email) as soon as possible. If it is a lesson you have already paid for, I will credit your account for that missed lesson. However, if a pattern of last minute cancellations and/or no-shows develops, no credit will be given for missed lessons.
If I have to cancel your lesson (for illness, vacation, or other reasons), you are not responsible for payment. I will try to reschedule your lesson if possible. If rescheduling is not possible, you will receive a credit for the cancelled lesson (if it has been prepaid).
